Review Unit:
Greetings, Introducing yourself, talk about family and friends (character and physical traits, nationality, birthday, age, languages you speak, where you live, etc.)
Unit # 1: What I do during my free time for entertainment
Topic # 1: What sports do you practice?
Objectives: students will be able to
- ask others what sports they practice.
- talk about what sports they practice.
Objectives: students will be able to
- talk about what they like and don't like doing during your free time.
- ask others what they like and don't like doing during their free time.
- ask others if they like doing something.
- say what they prefer doing, and ask others what they prefer doing.
Objectives: students will be able to
- talk about what they do at different times during the week..
Objectives: students will be able to
- ask if others would like to do something and when.
- ask others when and where to meet.
- agree to do something.
- answer the telephone.
Objectives: students will be able to
- talk about what they are going to do, and what others are going to do during the weekend.
- talk about the time of day.
Objectives: students will be able to
- talk about how they help at home.
- talk about on which days they do something.

Unit # 2: Tourism and Holidays
Topic # 1: Talking about different tourist destinations
Objectives: students will be able .
- talk about where they usually go on their holidays and talk about how they travel.
- talk about what makes a place have a tourist attraction
- talk about Angel Falls as a tourist destination.
- talk about Merida's cable car as a tourist destination.
- talk about Yaque beach in Margarita as a tourist destination.
Objectives: students will be able to
- go to a travel agency and ask for recommendations on tourist destinations.
- talk about preparing their luggage.
- talk about documents for travelling.
- talk about flight, hotel, and car rental reservations and purchases.
- ask for a taxi.
- talk about travel and accident insurance.
- talk about immigration and custom documents.
- talk about the experience through the airport: airline counter, luggage, security, immigration, customs, flight, car rental, hotel, etc.
Objectives: students will be able to
- talk about where they went on the weekend, who they went with, and what they did.
- talk about where they stayed and what they visited.
- talk about if they had a good time or not.
- talk about what other people did on their holiday.
Assessment
Throughout the semester, the assessment will be on four major criteria. These are:
- Listening comprehension
- Speaking
- Reading comprehension
- Writing
Also, we will have several minor assessments throughout the year on listening, speaking, reading comprehension, and writing. Additionally, we will have major assessments at the end of semester 1. These assessments will test the 4 major skills mentioned above.
